Ken Friesen spoke about his learning tour with the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) to Lebanon earlier this summer. After decades of providing relief supplies and social services to local groups helping Palestinian refugees in the Middle East, MCC's work in Lebanon is now able to help new Syrian refugees as well. By receiving legacy gifts of real estate, the MCC can plan on a source of steady cash flow to help the poorest of the poor. God expects us to provide for refugees (Lev. 19, Deut. 10), and over a series of Sundays we've heard how the Parable of the Good Samaritan reminds us to be neighbourly whenever we see a need that we can meet.
