On Peace Sunday, Thomas Bergen (Menno Simons Centre Residence Coordinator) continued his series on Mark by leading us to see how Jesus' claim of authority over the Sabbath and Family threatened the religious establishment enough for them to want to kill him. Thomas challenged us to consider: what symbols have we allowed to usurp Jesus's authority in our lives? We can truly be peacemakers when we submit to the reign of the Prince of Peace, who calls us to serve beyond our identity markers of nation, tribe, and our own desires.
