TOPIC
On Sunday, September 13th, Mark Glanville (Jazz pianist and Old Testament scholar; Director of the Centre for Missional Leadership at St. Andrew's Hall, UBC) gave a sermon and a workshop on all of Psalm 37. In-person participants received a printed copy of the Psalm and worked in a small group, while the Zoom attendees were given the digital copy and split into breakout rooms.
Psalm 37 is both ancient and powerful. It is part of the wisdom literature and teaches how one can live well in God's world. It written from the perspective of an old man assuring the younger generation that in time, God comes through. Psalm 37 teaches us not to fret because of the wicked or be envious of wrongdoers, as they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Do not fret, as it only leads to evil; instead, trust that God is both good and just. [JL]
