TOPIC

Margaret Carey spoke on her study of meaning and a search for values - religious, personal, humanistic and spiritual. One view of a “Brownian motion society” of individualism and decay contrasts with a vibrant, multicultural perspective. If we fail to regard multiculturalism, then we do not take Jesus dictum to ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you’ seriously. If one lives only upon one’s own instincts (as in Gladwell’s Bleak) then our conclusions, and our lives, will only be superficial. [AP]
