BCMB Convention 2020

The Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches in British Columbia held its annual general meeting on Saturday, May 2, 2020. The BCMB Report Booklet was available for all to view, and a change in the bylaws proposed was held in abeyance due partly to lack of proper notice, but also to permit further discussions on the import of the proposed changes. A further meeting will be held in November 2020 to forward the discussion about changes to the bylaws, in particular requirements that member churches be led by a credentialled pastor, that congregations who have joined other denominations are deemed to have automatically withdrawn, and that congregations accept and use as guidance the Common Understandings document in a place of primacy alongside the Confession of Faith.

The MCBC 2020 AGM (Saturday, February 29th) and LEAD Conference (Friday, February 28th) were held at Cedar Valley Mennonite Church (32860 Cherry Avenue, Mission). The LEAD conference (9:00 am – 4:00 pm) featured several workshops on various mental health issues found in the church and how churches can best deal with them. Speakers featured included Sue Nickel and Daniel Whitehead (Sanctuary Ministries) both of whom have been speakers at PGIMF. The report book is available from the MCBC website or you can download it directly here.
