On Sunday Sept 8, 2019, April Yamasaki will be speaking.
April is an ordained minister with twenty-five years of experience as lead pastor for Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Abbotsford, B.C. She is currently Resident Author with Valley CrossWay Church, a liturgical worship community; Editor of Purpose, a monthly magazine of everyday inspiration; writing freelance and speaking widely in churches and other ministry settings. Her writing on spiritual growth and Christian living has appeared in both online and in print publications, including Christian Century, Christianity Today, The Redbud Post, Godspace, Leader, and Rejoice! Her most recent book is Four Gifts: Seeking Self-Care for Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength.
We will also be blessed by special music from April’s friend LoraLyn Stobbe Dijk. Music has been an integral part of LoraLyn’s life. She sang her first solo in church at the age of 3! She has enjoyed directing church children’s choirs, Pacific Mennonite Children’s Choir, singing in church and community choirs, making 10 CDs with the West Coast Mennonite Chamber Choir, solos, duets, serving in senior residences, and preparing liturgy for her church. It is her passion and joy to share God’s love through the expression of music and liturgy, taking every opportunity to follow God’s prompting and leading for His honour and glory.
