On Sunday May 5, 2019, Steve Anonby considers the opportunitiy fo Sabbath as a discipline to be embraced. Steve says:”I’ve been thinking lately about the concept of Sabbath as the discipline of intentional waste (e.g., take a perfectly good goat and burn it – let the crops rot every 7 years, take a perfectly good day and do nothing productive with it). Our European work ethic in some ways encourages us to exploit each and every opportunity to milk it for some sort of future benefit, which can be a sort of gluttony. So what does it look like for us to mindfully let some opportunities go, spend some money “irresponsibly”, waste some time, and in doing so, what does it do for us and others around us?”
